There were steampunk trappings and airships and danger and derring-do, but Glass Books of the Dream Eaters never quite managed to excite and engage me in the way I presume it was supposed to. I was relieved to get to the end, in all honesty, and I'm still not sure why. I can't find any particular fault with the book, the characters were solid and likeable, and the mystery unfolded at a plausible enough rate. It just never quite grabbed me, despite possessing loads of stuff I generally like.
