Redemptor by Jordan Ifueko
4.0

it was beautiful written. ifueko’s prose is simple, but impactful because she doesn’t shy away from the truth. she lets you feel those emotions, the raw forms of it, because there’s beauty in *feeling* and being *human.*
the hauntings of the children felt eerily similar to i think what we call _subconscious_ and by god, it really is difficult to dissociate yourself from truth and lies, or even what you’re *telling* yourself which are truth and lies.
it’s like what tarisai said, our memories are fragments and may be remembered differently.
i loved how we managed to explore other parts of aritsar more, the world building in here was once again phenomenal.
also was _not_ expecting the twist, i thought i had the book figured out but ifueko always wrenches that expectation and throws it back at you twofold
