Another spooky book had been tackled! I’m sooo loving commencing the autumnal season with such atmospheric reads. I absolutely adore gothic settings — a spooky castle on top of an even spookier mountain, completely isolated? With so much death surrounding it? Uhm.. yes?! 🖤

I was very surprised by how polarising the reviews are for this book. However, I do understand where they’re coming from too. Without giving too much away, the book can be a hit or miss for some people depending on personal taste and preferences. I really enjoyed my time with this book, mainly because it delivered what I was looking for. The atmosphere, the setting, the suspense, the discussions of morbidity and ephemerality as well as what you find in the in between. 🥀

Of course there is sensuality and desire and madness. How could there not? The descent, the falling, the lust. I felt the tension expressed, I followed along as the two main characters found each other within this blooming madness. 🍂

・❥・ ❝My enigma. Your eyes have danger in them.❞
・❥・ ❝And your eyes still have hunger.❞

I love Corvina as the FMC and I really liked Vad too. Their relationship won’t be for everyone, same as this story.
If we’re being technical, there are some questions still — however, having read the acknowledgments, perhaps that was the whole point? Some questions are supposed to be left unanswered. I guess my curiosity still was waiting for  additional information. 😫 The mystery elements keep you guessing, although I did guess some things rights.
Overall though, a good time! 🤭

A story that ensnares the melancholy within 🥀🖤
