This short but profound book explores complex issues in a thoughtful way. Somehow it opens your eyes to what is happening without being graphic or making a spectacle of the women and their situation. The gentleness with with the heavy topics are handled gives the reader the option to think deeply and be affected by the content at your own pace. The reader faces their own decision, just like furlough, as to whether they quickly skim or they lean into the truth and let it leave an impression.
