The Traitor's Kingdom by Erin Beaty
4.0

It’s funny when you start a series, and as time goes by your reading preferences start to change.

This is not my usual choice of reading currently, as a few years ago I was a little less picky. There’s is no magic, and it is heavily focused on politics (as well as romance) which is something that doesn’t appeal to me anymore. But that being said I feel like Erin was still able to write this story in a way that can be entertaining for many readers.

What drew me into the series was the big plot twist Erin gave us in the Traitors Kiss. It was done so well that I was blown away. The fact that it lacked magic didn’t even bother me.

And even now despite my change in taste, I still found myself interested in how the story ended.

Sage and Alex were quite interesting to follow. Sage was stubborn as shit even if it almost cost her her own life, and Alex was so protective he morphed into an ass who I wanted to kick in the face almost all the time. Even so, I liked them both. Their love for each other was genuine and I found that very cute. That’s what they were, they were cute.

I think the first two books remain my favorite though, as they were a little more exciting than this last installment, which is why my review is only four stars. That’s still pretty high considering the first 150 pages all centered around peace talks and kissing here and there. It’s just that despite it mostly centering around talking, Erin still manages to capture my attention and so four stars seemed fair.

Overall it was a cute read. And I’m happy for Sage and Alex.
