It has some real and important wisdom, despite some of the problematic passages here and there. (Gender roles are well and good if they work for you, but why the emphasis on empowerment overcoming the tyranny of biology then an assumption that we can't evolve our conceptions of gender and gender roles?) I did gain a lot of truly helpful knowledge from this book, despite being a totally left winger woman. I actually still do recommend it. The world is better off with this book in it. Left wingers, just roll your eyes at the annoying passage or remark here and there, and you will find valuable wisdom if you push forward. Also, I think his behavioral approach to parenting is spot on.
