Philippa Gregory's Wars of the Roses 2-Book Boxed Set: The Red Queen and The White Queen by Philippa Gregory

3.0

This collection was fine if only kind of repetitive (at least during the white queen, as some of this author's books tend to be). It would have earned a higher rating it not for how Margret was characterized. As a child her righteousness was funny but as an adult it was extremely irritating. I wanted to like her (even though I read the white queen first, I wanted to be impartial) but she used God as an excuse to be power hungry.

Also after seeing how little she mattered in the world of men, I would've thought she'd appreciate her kind peaceful second husband, but she insults all the qualities that any sane straight woman would want during that time period. Anyway I am sad she was written as such of an asshole.

Years ago I read the other boleyn girl books and wanted to start this author's novels from the beginning but so far I'm unimpressed after reading the lady of the rivers, the white queen and the red queen. I'm hoping the next one is good otherwise maybe I should just jump ship.
