Whispers of the Dead by Simon Beckett
5.0

Having loved (and I do mean LOVED) the first two books in the David Hunter series, I admit I was anxious when I picked up the third and latest, 'Whispers of the Dead' by author Simon Beckett – a feeling, might I add, which was exasperated as the opening pages revealed this latest adventure was set in the U.S. One of the (many) reasons I adored the previous books was, unlike so many other thrillers, it was set in the United Kingdom.

However all feelings of anxiety, dread and fear evaporated as I turned the pages.

The latest David Hunter thriller is set in Knoxville, Tennessee (a place I have visited and loved!) and sees Forensic Anthropologist recovering from the (physical and emotional) wounds inflicted upon him in 'Written in Bone' as he tries to pick up the pieces of his life.

Beckett’s latest is teeming with vivid descriptions, twists-and-turns aplenty and characters to both love and loathe.

Another refreshingly unpredictable read from Simon Beckett and I for one, cannot wait for the next instalment!
