I wanted to like this book a lot more than I did. Having an ace main character is very interesting to me, and I wanted to see how it was handled (it wasn't. at least not very well). I didn't really like how anything in this book was handled. I think this book would be good for anyone looking for heavy teenage angst, but that is just not for me. The horror aspects were interesting, and I really liked the descriptions. The writing felt very beautiful and poetic. However, I can't rate this any higher because the rest of it was so far from what I wanted and the ending just made me confused and unsatisfied that nothing was actually explained and it's left very open-ended . Overall, the line writing was great, but the themes of heavy teenage angst were very much not for me.
Graphic: Bullying, Eating disorder, Gore, Panic attacks/disorders, Violence
Moderate: Body horror, Death, Homophobia, Suicidal thoughts, Blood, Death of parent, Acephobia/Arophobia
