The return of Marguerite from Book 1 and her exploration of courtly romance in T. Kingfisher's world of the White Rat. I couldn't escape the Scarlet Pimpernel (1982) vibes, and not just because Marguerite's character appearance is so much like Jane Seymour. Courtly intrigue, spies, and the underpinnings of royal life give way to a deepening narrative centering on demons and the evolving story of the dead Saint of Steel.
One of the strongest endings in the series by far. I couldn't put this one down because I had to know what would happen to Shane! T. Kingfisher only gets better and better with each passing book in this series. Eagerly awaiting the next installment, especially after that cliffhanger!
