Well crafted story of a quintessential and somewhat outdated English butler Stevens remembering his life on a road trip in the countryside. Enjoyed the buildup of internal tension as the trip goes on, with him debating the worth of his career, and, in a subtly painful tone expressing doubts and regrets and uncertainty about the emptiness ahead. The language and the voice is perfect for the story.
