The plot and themes of this book are very interesting and could be done well but it was written sooo badly. There were so many inconsistencies and plot holes that just didn’t make sense. The “twist” was so obvious throughout the entire book (to the point where I got annoyed at the characters for not picking up on it). It’s supposed to be a comedy and I didn’t laugh one time, not because it’s not my humour but because it just isn’t funny?? I don’t understand how this is a comedy?

The MC is also just a really uninteresting, boring, annoying person. His endless cynicism and douchbaggery isn’t endearing nor does he really grow out of it. It’s actually praised by his partner which is wild.

I would’ve rated this lower but the book did have an uptick towards the end in terms of plot and character development. It’s still not a good book and I wouldn’t recommend it, ironically.
