But you can't teach someone how to be a person. Cora was never real, she was only an echo of Delilah, and with her gone, she is no one at all.

Finally my first 5 star read of the year (except for my first book and that was a re-read of my favourite book ever (Jurassic Park), so that doesn't count!

I loved this book from start to finish! There were so many interesting things going on, which I felt extremely related to, or am very interested in.

1) The book took place during the COVID-pandemic at its peak, with a Chinese/American girl, who is terrified of getting COVID and just germ in general. She lives alone in a studio in New York and as an Asian girl, she gets targeted by hate, because people blame Asian-looking people for the COVID-pandemic.
---> this gripped me for 2 reasons.
*The whole Asian-hate period the world went through. One of my best friends was personally targeted because of this, and even though she told me about it and what she experienced, as a white person, I will never fully understand what BIPOC people at going through, when they are targeted for no other reason that their looks or the colour of their skin. That's why I think it is important to listen to those people, read about it, try to educate myself and support people when you can, however you can!
*And I myself was extremely paranoid during the COVID-pandemic and even before that, had sudden urges to clean myself, because of invisible germs

2) Because of the Pandemic, Cora lost her job, which made her start a job as a crime-scene cleaner, where she met 2 other Asian people, where she unknowingly became friends with.
---> This was very interesting to me, because the job as a crime-scene cleaner sounds like something very interesting and horrifying at the same time (I guess I am like Harvey in this way...)

3) During this time, Hungry Ghosts haunt people. These Hungry Ghosts are people that died and were forgotten, or had no family/friends etc. Nobody prayed for them and so, they grow hungry, eating everything, but only blood quenches their hunger.
---> This is just the paranormal that has always been fascinating to me and I love any story with something paranormal in it, definitely something like this that comes from Folklore.

All these things together made for an amazing experience and the ending of the book was SUBLIME!!! I highly recommend this book!
