The Cousins follows Milly, Aubrey, and Jonah, three estranged cousins who are invited to the island their parents used to live on, by the grandmother they’ve never met. Their family history is built on so many lies and it’s up to them to finally uncover some truths. My favourite character was Milly. I love how layered and multi-dimensional all of the characters were, but Milly was by far my favourite. My least favourite character was Adam. There are a lot of bad guys in this book but he is easily the least likeable. I recommend this book because so much is going on that you can never see the next twist coming. I did NOT see that ending coming. ‘It hits me, as I say it, that I really do think about Aubrey, Jonah, and me as a “we” now; an odd little team, caught up in something that only the three of us can understand. This summer keeps twisting in ways I never expected, and it’s a relief to have them along for the ride.’
