Lore
by Alexandra Bracken
Lore by Alexandria Bracken
Rating: 5 / 5
Summary: When they defied Zeus, nine gods were forced to walk on earth without their immortality for 7 days every 7 years. These gods are then hunted by those wanting power, bloodlines were formed. Lore Perseus is the descendant of the Perseus bloodline. She left that life far behind her when her family were murdered….unless she didn't. The past has a tendency to catch up to you. And when a god shows up at her door asking for help and offering her revenge, it seems that the fates aren't willing to let her out of their grasp so easily.
Rating: Okay I'll admit that i judged this book by its summary. I did not believe that i would enjoy it and was very hesitant to start reading it. I finally did and it was amazing. I loved this book. It's Greek mythology meets the hunger games and it was done so well.
Bracken did a great job developing this world. It wasn't hard to dive into and even if you're not a big mythology need this book made the world easy to jump into. The plot was really well developed and never once did it feel like it dragged on. It was fast paced and kept you hooked right from the start. The plot twist were so expertly thrown in. They caught me completely off guard and i loved them.
The characters were amazing. It wasn't hard to get attached to Lore and to root for her. There were some parts where i didn't like her but that was just all a part of the plan. It was really amazing to see her develop over the course of the book.
The side characters were also surprisingly easy to get attached to. Why do i always end up more attached to the side characters then the main character? Good news, none of my favorite side characters died. Which is good thank you Bracken i ñove you.
It was really amazing to see the interactions between all of the characters. The friend group complimented each other so nicely.
This book was just amazing. I'm a big Greek mythology need and it had been a long while since i had read any Greek mythology based stories. So this was a warm welcome home.
Oh! Also how could I forget. There was lgbtqia+ representation int this!!! It wasn't a main focus of the story but it was there. I loved that it wasn't a huge deal. There was a part where Milo (lore's Roommate) had to talk his love interest through a realization which i loved. Milo and his love interest are my favorite ship from this book.
Rep: queer side characters
TWs: themes of sexual assault, child brides, and mentions rape/attempted rape
Rating: 5 / 5
