The Bookseller by Cynthia Swanson
3.0
This premise of this book is what originally drew me in; who doesn't love a mix of "It's a Wonderful Life" and "Sliding Doors"? But the book jacket summary only touches upon the many layers of life's little "what ifs" this story examines.
I started off thinking I would see the plot line meandering miles in the distance; knowing exactly where the author would take me and why. Boy, was I absolutely wrong.
Was this the best story I have ever read that used this particular plot device? No. Was it the best story I have ever read to touch on the subjects it covers throughout the course of the novel? No. But it was a charming story and I did find myself liking most of the characters. Is it a story that I could find myself reading again? No. But I do feel that the themes and questions this book addresses will stay with me for a good long while.
They say that books find you when you are meant to read them, and this book definitely came along at the right time for me.
