An Education in Malice by S.T. Gibson

dark emotional medium-paced

4.75

This is a beautifully sultry book full of yearning and pursuit.

It explores a wonderfully dark academia tale that is layered with pining and rivalry.

Not quite a five star for me as the teacher/student element un settles me. Despite it being well handled by the author, it doesn't sit well with me.

I appreciate this is more of a character driven story but it is lacking a little in plot and a clear force to rally against.

Having said that, I devoured this book and think it will sit with me for a long time. The complex characters kept me guessing but their actions always made sense.

The writing is beautiful, the ode to poetry and language woven throughout the book is sublime. The sapphic yearning is done superbly and overall I loved reading this book.
