Making Faces by Amy Harmon
5.0
Beautiful. This story was heart achingly beautiful.
Fern was such a good protagonist, the way she loved those around, overcame her own pains… and stuck up for people who couldn’t. I loved her.
Bailey was easily a favorite. Kind but doesn’t pull any punches. Hilarious and has so much levity about his lot in life. I love this character because it gives the reader a chance to stare death in the face every time we meet him. Even though there’s death in so many other parts of this story.
Ambrose. The beast, fallen from grace. I liked that his arc included dealing with grief? I mean, no one wants to deal with grief, but his version was to hide from it and gradually he comes to a better place. It was such an interesting story to see him come to the “end” of his journey. If there even could be said that there’s an end.
