The Remember Balloons by Jessie Oliveros

5.0

This is a lovely, lovely, lovely book - a sensitively told story about a grandfather with dementia from the perspective of a grandson trying to understand: beautifully illustrated, using the metaphor of balloons for memories. Grandpa can't hold onto his balloons anymore. I absolutely loved the drawings, especially the facial expressions on the family members. I appreciated the mixed-race couple and the intergenerational love and kindness in this important book. Highly recommended for families and libraries.
