I went into this book wanting something to make me feel physically sick and fuck, I got just that! The story is horrible (not in the sense of writing) and the further you get into the novel, the happier you become that Humbert is dead (not a spoiler; this is revealed within the first two pages). The ending did surprise me, and I despise how much he got away with (and how true to reality that really feels with SA and abuse in real life). Vladimir's writing was outstanding and I truly think I would've paid more attention in APLit if we had to read this book! I plan on rereading this in the future after I read some of Freud's books, as I think a lot of psychology discussed and Humbert's reality was based around his ideas.
