Alright, this is the best one so far! This series keeps getting better and better. At the end of Resisting Maxu, we know almost everybody escaped capture, except for Sophia who remains captured by Sikthand, a broody warrior king with a tail and massive trust issues.

Sikthand and his council are hoping to use Sophia as a political bargaining chip, but unbeknownst to them at the time, the political upheaval has begun on Clecania, and Sikthand himself is inexplicably obsessed with Sophia.

Sophia is a fantastic character, smart, strong and handles the insanity that is her current situation like a CHAMP. Sikthand does some things that normally would be considered massive red-flags, but understandable due to his past, yet Sophia remains level-headed and lenient with him due to knowing what he's been through. This one felt pretty slow-burn and full of angsty tension, but when it hits, it HITS.

The story itself is fantastic, we get political intrigue, mystery, huge character growth, and advancement of the overarching series' story. Pacing is good, left wanting more of course, but that's the way this entire series has been and I'm here for it.

So yeah, if you read the others, no reason to not read this one! If you haven't read this series, da hell is wrong with you, start reading it already.
