A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik

Did not finish book. Stopped at 62%.

This isn’t a bad book, it’s just not for me. I like the prose- Dark academia, monsters, and magic. I didn’t vibe with Naomi Novik’s writing style. It’s very character driven with a lot of inter dialogue from an unlikeable character. I sympathize with El and understand why she is the way she is but that doesn’t make me want to spent the majority of the book in her head. There was also a lot of info dumps.  I don’t mind info dumps but they were oddly placed in this book. I felt like every time something was (finally) about to happen, we’d get a long info dump that was distracting and slowed the plot down.
