Esselmont keeps improving as a writer, but the star is still the world in which he gets to play and the deep lore underpinning it. The contrast with Steven Erikson is stark, but not nearly all in Erikson's favour: I hold it entirely likely that a work coauthored between the two would balance out their strengths and weaknesses perfectly.
