The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
5.0
Re-reading this book (and the rest of the series) is the best decision I have ever made.
I had begun to get bored with books until I dressed up as Annabeth for Book-a-ween at the elementary school I work at. It made me read the book again, after not having touched it since... middle school, which was 9-10 years ago. WOW.
The story is exciting, action-packed, and also includes a lot of humor that lightens up the story a bit. Percy Jackson is a hero - except he doesn't see himself that way. He's just a trouble, 12 year old kid from New York, who suddenly realizes those Greek myths he learned with Mr. Brunner... actually exists.
One of my favorite all time books because it hooks you in with the first line and the rest is history. I love this entire series - it's one of the few that I've been able to sit through and read and FINISH, which doesn't happen often. I got back into reading as a result of this and missed the feeling of getting sucked into a book.
