Jennifer Hartman delivers an emotional gut-punch with The Wrong Heart, a contemporary romance that dives deep into grief, healing, and finding connection in the darkest places. Melody’s story—reaching out to the recipient of her late husband’s heart—is raw, devastating, and beautifully hopeful.
This book is not for everyone, as it tackles heavy themes like loss, self-harm, and suicide. But if you love how Hartman weaves darkness with light, this one is a must-read. My stomach was in knots the entire time, and I cried multiple times (that epilogue, though 😭).
The moments of banter and perfectly tied metaphors added depth to an already heart-wrenching story, making it my favorite Hartman book so far. If you’re ready for a story that will break you and slowly put you back together, give this one a try.
