I'm thankful that the ARC of the first book of the next series prompted me to return to this series. All of the characters got full character development arcs that had them deal with a catastrophic situation without supernatural fallbacks. I don't have more detailed thoughts on this books since I went directly into "Lords of Night" after reading this and finished that one far more recently.
