The perfect blend of memoir and investigative journalism — wherever the author inserts himself, it is only for the furtherance of the narrative, to describe how he reacted to the two foci of the book, Rita and Tyson (although it can feel a bit self-congratulatory at times). A wonderful call for all of us to remember that homeless people are, indeed, people first — and that all of us have a part in helping them get back into housing.
