Persuasion by Jane Austen
5.0

The story of the exquisite Anne Elliot and her Captain Wenteforte, another Austen classic goes on my shelf and in my heart!

Persuasion the book by Jane Austen is a 5 star. Perfection! No flaws with Jane Austen in my eyes, but the narrator in this audible version of Persuasion is not suitable for this story. Her accent, her emphasis and her punctuation were all off, and it took some determination for me to move forward, to focus on the words and the story that Austen is telling and not to let her lesser than excellent narration ruin the book. In the past, I had started the Kindle version of Persuasion but was distracted by other books so I was determined to read it this time through listening.

The story of Anne Elliot, the typical heroine of Austen, a woman of high understanding, great judge of character, acute sense and sensibility, great spirits, unbelievable levels of patience and a most desirable human to have on your side in society and in life. Persuasion is the story of Anne Elliot losing and regaining the love of her life, Captain Wenteforth, and how remarkably she carries herself through the deepest disappointment and shocks of life for a young woman and how she greets the felicity and bliss that eventually befall her.

Even if Persuasion isn't more favorite in my eyes than Sense and Sensibility or Pride and Prejudice, it is still an exclusive work of fiction, by a writer who was beyond accomplished and truly timeless. It's a short novel and took only 8 hours in which to listen to it. If you love Austen, you will enjoy this book.
