That Sik Luv by Jescie Hall

3.0

I love a good stalker romance and was taken especially by the religious component of That Sik Luv. I love it when dark romances tackle the negative aspects of religion and the church, and this one handled that brilliantly. However, I wasn't particularly drawn into the plot; it just didn't seem to pique my interest as much as I expected. And, don't get me wrong, I really enjoy dark romances, but this one just wasn't for me. I didn't dislike it, but I also wasn't fond of it - it felt more like a just another book I’ve read than anything. I am not sure I have any profound emotions about this book. I loved all the dark elements in this book, and I especially enjoyed meeting and getting to know Areo, but for some reason, perhaps as a result of all the hype, I didn't think it was quite as enjoyable as I thought it would be. Nonetheless, I would still recommend this book to anyone who enjoys dark romances; it's a great one, but as I mentioned earlier, it just wasn't for me.

“You’re a woman without a voice, Briony,” he whispers against my lips. “Let me be the throat through which you scream.”
