No. 5, Vol. 1 by Taiyo Matsumoto

adventurous fast-paced

3.5

Taiyo Matsumoto's art is consistently beautiful, and I'll be honest in saying that alone makes No.5 worth the read. I'll also be honest and say none of the story is working for me, and I can barely even remember what happens in any of the frenetically paced chapters, let alone remember who is who in a cast of characters who keep swapping names as their ranks change in real time and in flashbacks. 5 is 1 is 4 is 2 is 4 is 9 is 6, and 4 kills 5 who is now 2 is 6's friend but 8's enemy. It's pretty!
