The Winter of Red Snow: The Revolutionary War Diary of Abigail Jane Stewart, Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, 1777 by Kristiana Gregory

4.0

This series of diaries was really interesting, especially when I read them in elementary/middle school. They really bring the time to life, and the characters are super relatable. This diary of Abigail's was especially interesting, especially given my interest in this period of history. I definitely recommend this book, as well as the others in the collection.

It's fascinating for a glimpse of rural life at this time period, particular for American Patriots and their army. Such, passion, dedication, and heartbreak! While of course this is fictionalized, it was still a compelling read, and the features on famous people from history was especially interesting.

My only struggle was believing Abigail was 11. Not so much, but otherwise, completely worth the read.
