Firefight by Brandon Sanderson

5.0

Y’know a water gun would probably work better.

Road trip with Mom and Dad—I mean Tia and Prof.

“‘You had better stop him,’ Regalia said. ‘He’s out of control. Oh my. What have I done. How terrible.”—Page 79

Dis bitch is hilarious.

Megan saved David.

That sub the Reckoners are going in better be yellow.

“‘Sure!’ She seemed to be recovering some of her natural perkiness. ‘Steelslayer, the guy who talked Phaedrus into hitting Steelheart. I expected you to be all intimidating and brooding and ‘They killed my father’ and intense and everything.’”—Page 115

Completely inaccurate.

“‘It’d just pretend to be a chef,’ Exel said. ‘Every organization needs both good chefs and good morticians. The two great constants of life. Food and death.’”—Page 131

I love Exel.

Is, uh, Epicenes genetic? Like if an Epic has a baby, what will that baby be? That doesn’t seem to be Brandon’s style, so I’m going to assume not.

People can make Epics? Can they switch powers? This is bad…

“Time to say something suave. Something romantic. My brain, which had been working a few steps behind all day, finally came to my rescue. ‘Don’t worry,’ I said. ‘I’d rather ogle you any day.’”—Page 261

David never open your mouth ever again.

Megan’s powers reminds me of the magic in Emperor’s Soul where a forger can change an objects past.

Huh, so fire is Megan’s weakness, I’m still curious to what Prof’s weakness is.

So there a cookies that grow from planets and they are a way for Dawnslight to communicate with David. That’s not crazy or weird at all.

Goddammit Val.

“‘You mean to tell me,’ Regalia said, ‘that all this time I had my agents searching along the northern coast, when he had a sparking underwater base?’”—Page 340

This made me laugh.

Calamity is an epic and he’s the one turning people in Epics, also you can talk to him?

DAVID IS TURNING INTO AN EPIC—never mind, I’m kinda disappointed.

Really? Another fake out death?

Regalia is dying and she needs a successor, goddammit.

Oh god the way Prof killed Val was horrifying. He killed Exel, too?! This is horrible!

So facing your fears is the secret to controlling it. I’m interested to see what happens next.
