The Latecomer
by Jean Hanff Korelitz
So far very intrigued with this universe the author has created. Like her sharp observations in The Plot about authors, she now is weaving fascination with art. The descriptions of Brooklyn then and now are fun. And using real pieces of artists grounds the narrative solidly. Many apt observations on family.
The author is adept at world-building. At first thought it might seem certain characters are superfluous, but soon the reader is drawn into the intricacies of a life.
The narrator on the audio version is excellent.
