So I know that this series recently came out with book 8 but I don’t think I will continue it any longer. It’s not because I didn’t like the series but I have a sinking feeling that this series is going to be one of those that will never end. This is because at the end of book 7, it starts to veer off on a completely different storyline than what I have been following since book 1.

Another reason why I’m going to put this series down is because I’m starting to get a bit lost from all of the characters that keep popping up. And it doesn’t help that a lot of them have weird-sounding names. And yet they are all very different so I’m honestly getting somewhat confused with everyone. I’m also not the only one because Nick, the MC in this series, also stated a few times that he was always a step behind and if the MC is confused then the reader, aka me, is also confused.

That being said, this series is still a very fun read. I really enjoyed reading about Nick and appreciated his sarcasm. Even though there were times when the other characters didn’t appreciate it as much, I always ended up laughing out loud because they were so amusing. The little sprinkles of Cajun mixed in was also a delight.

Out of all of the characters, I think I like Caleb and Xev the most. In particular, I really enjoy their squabbles. Caleb seems like the standoffish guy who doles out tough love whereas Xev is sensitive one and very affectionate. Their yin and yang is so entertaining to read about.

One more thing that I thought was kind of interesting was how everyone ended up being somewhat related to each other. In a way, it was a very confusing (i.e. see above) but it also made the storyline a lot more complex because now they also have to deal with a grandfather or a cousin or something instead of just another person/demon/god.

Overall, I did enjoy the books but as state earlier, I’m most likely not going to be picking up the rest of the series. But I definitely recommend it to those who enjoy paranormal books with a very sarcastic MC.
