Darkest Sins by Neva Altaj
5.0
adventurous dark fast-paced

Darkest Sins is my new favorite in this series. The fact that this is the 9th book in the Perfectly Imperfect series, and it is the best, is just crazy. Neva Altaj is killing it! Each book gets better than the last and her writing is evolving. I connected to the characters so much more in this book and I could just feel their love. I was so excited to see who Kai’s tiger cub was and to read his romance.

Kai is an assassin for hire, and we saw Sergei and Az rescue him in a previous book. He has such a sad and tragic backstory. He gets badly wounded on a job and is saved by Nera when she sees him bleeding in an alley. She patches him up at the vet clinic she works at. Kai becomes obsessed with being her protector and keeping an eye on from afar. He wants to keep her safe and she brings a light into his dark life. He will self-inflict wounds, so he has an excuse to see her again.

Nera is a mafia princess and daughter to the Boston Don. However, her father gives her a lot more freedom and she gets to live on her own and go to school. I really liked her dad and sister in this book. She was such a strong and loyal person. She started to fall for her “Demon” with every interaction and she was always aware when he was near.

This was told in two timelines, the past and the present which is 3 years later. It was done so well. The past showed them fall in love, but a tragic event breaks them apart and they come back together later. I loved how hard they fought for each other and how protective they both were. Kai is such a badass, protective, touch her and you die hero.

I loved their romance and second chance. Kai is one of my favorite Neva Altaj heroes.

I am also so excited for his sister’s romance with their stepbrother Massimo.
