All My Rage by Sabaa Tahir
5.0
4.5 rounded up. This one started slow for me for about the first 100 pages, but it flew by after that. Like a lot of contemporary novels, it’s very plot driven, and it weaves together several different modern social issues. The writing also felt a little juvenile at times, but that seems pretty common with works classified as YA.
I realize that’s a weird way to start a five-star review, but… This is a beautiful love story. It’s tragic and heartbreaking, then inspiring and uplifting. Finding life after immeasurable loss, the main characters teach us how to open ourselves to others as a means of healing. As a person who works with teenagers every day, there’s a lot Tahir gets right here. So if you read to feel big feelings, this one’s a good one. Not easy reading, but cathartic.
