This was a lot of fun, I know from his other books and podcast appearances etc that the author knows an awful lot about horror stories and it's utilised really well here, it has many of the tropes of your favourite haunted house story and whilst they might not be absolutely innovatively used they are really solidly presented. The sibling relationship is done really well, there's a hugging scene where both siblings think they are comforting the other which is delightful. Very little in the story outstays its welcome, I enjoyed it a lot
