Childhood by Tove Ditlevsen

challenging dark emotional informative medium-paced

4.0

This was my first work by Ditllevson. I haven't read any of her novels or poetry, but I was drawn to the Copenhagen Trilogy because I enjoy autobiography and memoir and I wanted to compare it to Tolstoy's similarly titled set of three novellas. Tolstoy's are semi-autobiographical, and both first books are called Childhood, but there is really no similarity between the two. I enjoyed getting back to back perspectives of different childhoods, though. I enjoyed Ditlevson's writing and her story and I look forward to continuing the series.
