I had high hopes for this story. However, there were storylines, characters, and descriptions that really had nothing to do with the central conflict. Maybe they were red herrings, but I found myself wanting more twists and turns that led to the conclusion - not events that ultimately didn’t even matter. I was surprised but not shocked at the ending. I wish I had dnfed but was hoping for a fantastic ending.
