The Fate of Fausto by Oliver Jeffers

2.0

When I got to the climax of this picture book, I was relieved that I was reading it to myself, not to a child. It is very dark, and even though this fable makes a good point about the dangers of hubris, I expected it to make its point while still having a happy resolution at the end. It does not. Also, even though some of the illustrations are appealing, many pages are blank except for a few lines of text at the top. This book is an artistic curiosity for adults, not a book for preschoolers.
