It was a very emotional read. There's an author's note where it is mentioned that this story is based on real events.
It was so heart breaking to read the stories of each maid working abroad, away from their families just to provide them a living. Though we mainly follow Nisha there are many domestic workers who left their countries to secure a job.
The way authorities ignore such migrants workers problems was so hard to read. It looked like they didn't even consider them as human beings.
The events that happened in Nisha's life is so hard. We see Nisha through her Petra, the lady she worked for and Yiannis, her lover. Once we finish the book Kumari and Aliki will be a sore spot as both of them will be missing motherly love. Nisha was love in all form.
It was really sad book but a great reading experience
