I thoroughly enjoyed Charlotte Bronte's writing style. The plot didn't have the emotional ups but the downers were frequent.  I did come to respect the character, Jane Eyre, as she had a lot of integrity and grit, something that is often lacking in heroines.  So I did enjoy a lot of aspects of the book but to me it wasn't great.  I did read 500 plus pages and the introductions so I did think it quite interesting and I got a lot out of it.  I see why they call it a classic but I will not be recommending this one to my friends and family.
