The Legend of Korra: Turf Wars Library Edition by Bryan Konietzko, Michael Dante DiMartino
2.0
Sigh.
I love to see Zhu Li in a new role, taking a lot more ownership of awesome she is. Of course, Kya being gay is EVERYTHING, and Korrasami is growing on me.
But.
This comic hits home everything that I love about Kyoshi and ATLA and everything I resent about LOK. It’s just bad guy after bad guy, and yes, they are complex characters! Yes, they are not straight evil like Sozin!
But suddenly the triads are back out of nowhere? Republic City is the focus again instead of building the Air Nation or exploring the Spirit World? Bolin and Mako are just there? I keep engaging with LOK because I love ATLA, and I enjoy the unique questions re technology and spirits, but then it’s! just! the same story over and over.
