What an incredible book, 4,25 stars!
This book is so fantastically weird, cruel, gross, wonderful and fascinating all at the same time. The title perfectly describes what this book is about: curiosities in the history of medicine. This book has stories about exploding teeth, cutting dicks in half, inhaling knives for fun, spontaneous combusting and miraculous healing from otherwise deadly wounds.
Working in the healthcare myself, I was absolutely amazed to read all these stories. Sometimes the medicine of a few hundred years ago seemed incredibly advanced; other times you're shocked at their practices. It's unbelievable what people do to their bodies, and also how amazing the human body's healing abilities are. This book was such a weird but fun read, I can't help but to praise it and recommend it to everyone.
