The way that B. B. Alston manages to incorporate real-life examples of ways that fascist governments have targeted minorities so that it makes sense within a magical world is incredible. This book shows the power of solidarity and the refusal to give up in the face of oppression through its characters and storyline. I loved the first book, but this was even better. I can't wait to read the next one!
