I enjoyed reading a book about a woman in her late 30s that wasn't about motherhood or marriage or divorce. It was refreshing to see a flawed character that struggled with settling into a career she didn't love, dealing with her family, dating as you get older. The chapters flash between various stages of her life and by the end we get a full portrait of her as a woman and what it took to get her there. Be warned Andrea is not a likable character- so if you need characters to be likable, this might not be the book for you. Also there is drug use, lots of drinking and sex, and it is the story of a life of privileged people problems. This novel will not save the world, but it might help some women feel seen and understood and I liked it for it's originality. Would recommend to those that enjoy something a little different than the normal, young, looking for love, happy go lucky protagonists and want a more jaded, raw and honest New Yorker.
