Somehow the prose and the stories feel exactly like summer felt when I was a kid even though the stories are from decades earlier. Every day is hot and slow. Thoughts are very important and adventures are everywhere. It feels like you will live forever and that time is racing away from you.

Bradbury also captures the way kids hear more than you expect them to, but their interpretation may or may not line up with intentions or reality. It's kind of fun watching Doug's interpretations of what the adults are getting up to.
