the epitome of “it’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey.” maybe if i read this book earlier in life (when my brain had more plasticity), i would’ve enjoyed it more and it would’ve taught me something, but at my big age of 21 i feel that i can say “no duh.” to this book 😭 granted it was a pretty story, the language being very whimsical, but i think it being “pretty” has a double meaning.
it dresses up following your dreams, but has no awareness of the fact that sometimes people literally can’t. i’m fortunate enough to say that i can pursue a dream that may lack stability, but i wouldn’t deem that to be brave and heroic, as this book lowkey does. i get that it’s supposed to be inspiring, but to talk down on people who don’t chase their dreams to achieve safety doesn’t sit right with me.
