The House on the Borderland by William Hope Hodgson
3.0
The first ever book I almost finished by W.H Hodgson. Unfortunately, it simply wasn't my cup of tea since there were almost zero dialogue and lots of description of things the hero witnessed in a dream-like state. In general, I'm not a fan of dreamscapes and I want to know the kind of book that I'm going to read. This one started as horror fiction in its first part and then moved on to become an SF one, which to be completely honest, I much more enjoyed this second portion of the book.
I'd suggest this book for fans of 19th- and 20th- century classic horror literature, however, if you prefer a more fast-paced narration with clear demarcations of genre and storyline, I'd suggest you avoid this one for now.
