Braving the Storm by Elliott Rose
5.0
Now, I love Daddy Colt, but Uncle Storm......can I be your adopted niece? Seriously, I couldn't have signed up to Patreon quick enough to get my hands on this, and am so grateful that as members, we receive an ARC.
Braving the Storm is Book 2 in the Crimson Ridge series, and is an interconnected standalone, but honestly, you need to get yourself well and truely lassoed into this series. Storm is met in Book 1, the broody, grouchy ex pro bull rider, with a reputation, but where very little is known about him. Imagine is surprise, when he comes home one night to his niece Briar standing in his bathroom. Well, let's just say, he didn't know, initially, that it was.
Briar is the youngest daughter of his now deceased brother, and himself and his brother were adopted by their foster parents (so technically, Briar is not blood). Briar is escaping the confines of an arranged, very unhappy marriage. She has a spiteful older sister, Crispin, who has made it her mission to rein down on Briar such vitriol and spite, constantly on about her weight and reminding her why she needs to be married to the arsehole she is, Antoine. She has inherited the cabin that has been Storm's home for 10 years, and decided to escape to it.
Instantly she loves the life in Crimson Ridge, but the attraction she has to Uncle Storm and he to her, knows now bounds. It's the longest 8 seconds, holding on tight to this slow burn, but OMG, I think my panties burst into flames and that deliciousness that is Storm. The way he treats Briar, and loves every single delicious curve, stretch mark just does things, and there is a handful of scenes I full on cry because I love it so much. That, and there are parts to Briar's character that I simply resonated with. How different my younger years may have looked, if I had had a man like Storm to show me.
This book I friggen love, and I never say this often, but there are characters that just plan on imbed themselves deep inside your soul, and Storm and Briar are there. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. Love love LOVE.
